In accordance with Bank Indonesia ("BI") Regulation No. 19/8/PBI/2017 on the National Payment Gateway (NPG), PT Bank HSBC Indonesia ("HSBC") would like to introduce you to a new HSBC Debit Card with the NPG logo: HSBC NPG Debit Card.

How to Request HSBC NPG Debit Card
Visit your nearest HSBC branch to request a new HSBC NPG Debit Card, or replace your HSBC VISA Debit Card with an HSBC NPG Debit Card.


Important Information
In accordance with BI regulation:

  1. In accordance with BI regulation, every Customer must have at least one ATM / debit card with the NPG logo issued by one of the issuing banks in Indonesia.
  2. If you do not wish to request for an HSBC NPG Debit Card because you already have an ATM/ debit card with the NPG logo from another bank, we request you to come to the nearest HSBC branch to sign a declaration form stating that you already own an NPG card from another bank.
  3. For Personal Banking Customers: To support the NPG initiative and the Personal Banking proposition which focuses more on domestic banking activities and transactions, we inform you that any lost, retained, damaged, or expired HSBC VISA Classic Debit Card will be replaced with an HSBC NPG Classic Debit Card going forward.

Deadline to use HSBC non-chip debit card
Based on Bank Indonesia regulation, debit card that is not equipped with chip technology can only be used by 31 December 2021 at the latest. However, HSBC may deactivate non-chip debit card periodically starting 1 September 2021.

Activating your card

You need to activate your HSBC Debit Card before you can use it.
To activate through ATM:

  • First, insert your debit card into any HSBC ATM, Bersama ATM, Prima ATM, Link ATM, Alto ATM, Visa Plus ATM, MasterCard/Cirrus ATM worldwide.
  • Then, enter your PIN and select 'balance inquiry'. If you want to choose your own unique PIN for additional security, you can only do it in HSBC ATM.
  • Once complete, your card will be now ready to use.

To activate through Interactive Voice Response (IVR):

  • Call 1500 808 (HSBC Advance customers), 1500 700 (HSBC Premier customers)
  • Follow the voice prompts to successfully activate your HSBC Debit Card

Debit Card request for Foreign Currency Account

  • Customer can start by opening Multicurrency Account with Foreign Currency (MCA-FCY) by visit Branch or call Contact Center or through Personal Internet Banking (PIB).
  • If account opening done through Branch or Contact Center, our staff will assist customer to open their MCA-FCY.
  • By opening new MCA-FCY, customer should fund their MCA-FCY by placing initial deposit, fund currency will correspond to the MCA-FCY currency
  • Once MCA-FCY has opened, customer may have two options: A) request new debit card for this MCA-FCY or B) link MCA-FCY to existing debit card. From two options, the next will be as below:
    Customer request new debit card for this account
    1. Customer can request new debit card through branch.
    2. In the new debit card, MCA-FCY will be linked as the primary account
    3. When debit card has successfully received by customer, customer may activate new debit card. For activation steps, please refer to the "Activating your card" on here
    4. After the debit card has successfully activated, customer can enjoy shopping, balance enquiry, cash withdrawal, and transfer using their MCA-FCY.

    Ex. A customer opened MCA-FCY with USD through PIB. This MCA-FCY needs to be funded in USD, customer can transfer fund from existing IDR account and automatically will be exchanged to USD once transferred to MCA-FCY with USD. Customer request new debit card from branch. MCA-FCY will be linked as debit card's primary account which make the debit card has main account in USD. When customer receive the new debit card, will require card activation in ATM. After card is activated, customer can enjoy shopping or any other transaction using USD without getting any exchange rate5.

    Customer want to link account to existing debit card
    1. If customer already owns a debit card and does not want another debit card, customer may request to link their MCA-FCY through Call Center or Branch.
    2. MCA-FCY will be linked as secondary account in the existing debit card.
    3. After the debit card has successfully linked with MCA-FCY, customer check linkage in ATM HSBC Indonesia and pick 'balance enquiry' and check if MCA-FCY available.
    4. Finally, debit card has been linked with MCA-FCY. Customer can access MCA-FCY through ATM HSBC worldwide for enquiry, cash withdrawal, and transfer as long as customer choose the corresponding MCA-FCY account in ATM HSBC worldwide. However, MCA FCY cannot be accessed for EDC/POS swipe transaction and online shopping using debit card.

    Ex: A customer opened MCA-FCY with USD through PIB. This MCA-FCY needs to be funded in USD, customer can transfer fund from existing IDR account and automatically will be exchanged to USD once transferred to MCA-FCY with USD. Customer already owns a debit card with IDR account as the card's primary account and does not want to request for another debit card. Customer request to link MCA-FCY in USD to be linked with the existing debit card. Therefore, MCA-FCY will be linked as secondary account. After account to card link requested, customer can link MCA-FCY through ATM HSBC Indonesia by going into 'balance enquiry' and check MCA-FCY availability. When MCA-FCY finally linked, MCA-FCY in the related debit card can only be accessed through ATM HSBC worldwide and cannot be used for direct purchasing.

610 times/month including cash withdrawal, transfer, and balance inquiry transactions with condition the account balance is >= Rp1,000,000 before transaction. For the excess usage, customer will be charged IDR 7,500 per transaction.

7Interbank transfer in ATM can be made in 2 times transactions with a maximum of IDR25,000,000 per transaction.
